ANJA NILSSON

I’m a freelance audio producer, reporter, writer, and oral historian based between Brooklyn, NY and Hollviken, Sweden. Most recently, I reported a story for Feet in 2 Worlds about a group of Maya bringing farming methods to Nebraska that could prevent the next American Dust Bowl and ensure their cultural survival. Previously, my work has been featured in Reuters and on NPR’s Planet Money, and WMPG 90.9.

I graduated from the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies in May 2024. Before that I obtained a MPA in Environmental Policy at Columbia University, where I also trained in audio at the Columbia Journalism School under Radio Ambulante creator and host, Daniel Alarcón. In a past life, I was a management consultant working on public health and economic development at McKinsey & Company.
